What are anti wrinkle injections?
Anti wrinkle injections are made of purified protein isolated from the Clostridium botulinum bacterium through a highly refined, patented process. Upon injection, this safe and effective protein relaxes muscles, allowing the overlaying skin to look smoother. Anti wrinkle treatments are non-surgical, minimally invasive, simple procedures that are used to treat forehead lines, mid-brow furrows, crow’s feet, down-turned corners of the lips, neck creases and wrinkles. These anti wrinkle injections have also proven effective in the treatment of migraines and hyperhydrosis (excessive perspiration).
How do anti wrinkle injections work?
Over time, we develop expression lines (or dynamic wrinkles) as a result of muscle activity such as furrowing or smiling. The anti wrinkle injection is put directly into the muscles, blocking the transmission of nerve impulses to the
injected muscles, thus reducing the activity of the muscles that cause those persistent lines to form. Once the muscle is fully relaxed, there is a significant improvement in the wrinkle and those that are mild to moderate in depth may even temporarily disappear. As long as anti wrinkle injections are maintained at regular intervals, the formation of future lines is also prevented because the movements that cause them are restricted.
Where can anti wrinkle injections be used?
They can be used to smooth forehead lines, relax the mid-brow furrow, correct crow’s feet around the eyes, lift eye brows, soften the lines around the neck and lift the corners of the mouth. It can also be used to treat excessive sweating in the underarm area.
When will I see results?
In three to ten days, you should see a marked improvement in moderate to severe lines. Lines continue to improve for up to a month, and results can last up to four months. In clinical trials, nearly 90% of men and women rated the improvement in their appearance as moderate to better one month after treatment.
How long do anti wrinkle injections last?
As with any medical procedure or medication, there are variations in individual response from three to six months. The predominant average among most individuals being three. If you discontinue treatment, the lines will gradually look like they did before treatment.
Is the treatment painful?
Discomfort is usually minimal and brief, as treatment consists of several tiny injections to the muscles causing your wrinkling. The entire procedure takes approximately 10 minutes. Most people return directly to work or normal
activities immediately following treatment.
Will I experience any side effects?
A small number of patients may experience slight bruising, headache, respiratory infection, flu syndrome, temporary eyelid droop or nausea.
Will my facial expressions continue to look natural?
Although the results are visible, a treatment will not radically change your facial appearance or make you look “frozen” or as if you “had work done.” The muscle activity that causes the dynamic wrinkles is simply reduced. Clients often report being told they look friendlier and more open and approachable without the frowns and furrows.
What will happen to the wrinkles if I choose not to continue treatments?
If you do not continue treatments, the wrinkles will gradually look like they did before treatment.
