What is Colon Hydrotherapy?

Colon Hydrotherapy is a safe effective method of removing waste from the large intestine, without the use of drugs. The filtered temperature regulated water is introduced into the bowel via a disposable speculum this softens and loosens faeces resulting in evacuation through natural peristalsis down thru disposable waste tubing that is piped way thru the colontherapy machine. There is no odour and the client’s privacy is maintained at all times. This flushing process is repeated a few times during a therapeutic treatment.

What is the Colon?

The Colon or large intestine as it is more commonly known is the end portion of the human digestive tract (body’s food carrying passageway which extends from the mouth to the anus). The colon is approximately 1.5 metres long and 7 centimeters in diameter. It’s major functions are to eliminate waste and conserve water.

Intestinal toxicity is part and parcel of many people’s everyday lives and prevalent in all societies. Colonic hydrotherapy effectively eliminate large quantities of toxic waste improving the condition of the entire body.

What are benefits of Colon Hydrotherapy?

Colonics are used to accomplish the following:

  1. Cleanse the colon
Toxic material will be broken down so it can no longer harm the body. Debris built up over a long period, is gently removed and your colon will begin to cooperate as it is meant to. In a real sense, Colonic Hydrotherapy is a rejuvenation treatment.

  2. It exercises the colon muscles
The build up of debris weakens the colon and impairs its functioning. The gentle filling and emptying of the colon with warm water improves peristaltic movement, this is the muscular contraction by which the colon naturally moves material.

  3. It reshapes the colon
When any problems occur in the colon eg: constipation, can alter the shape of it, which causes more problems. The action of the colon filling and emptying with water, combined with the massage technique of your therapist helps to eliminate bulging pockets of waste enabling the colon to resume its natural state.

  4. It stimulates reflex points.
The colon has reflex points that correspond to various organs, glands and other areas such as the eyes. Colonics will stimulate these reflex points thereby improving general wellbeing.

  5. It hydrates the colon
Hydrating the colon encourages the breakdown and elimination of waste matter.

The solar plexus is the emotional centre of the body and the transverse colon passes right thru it. Subsequent colonics remove more waste. The amount of colonics you wish to have depends on your health condition, personal goals and objectives.

Your skin actually “breathes” and is an important organ of elimination of waste material. Sometimes if the colon, liver or kidneys are functioning poorly, the skin will be required to make up the difference. Surface eruptions on the skin of various sorts may occur due to toxins being released. Cleansing and healing the colon diminishes the burden placed upon the skin as well as the other organs of elimination: lungs, liver and kidneys. As elimination is improved through its proper channels, the skin will very often clear up.

Does a colonic wash out all the good bacteria (intestinal flora)?

Washing out putrefied matter and harmful bacteria in the large intestine can only help to increase the production of good intestinal bacteria. When a bowel is “clogged” it is often overrun with toxins and bad bacteria, good bacteria can only “breathe” and multiply in a clean environment so by washing out the bowel helps the glands that produce good bacteria to keep up the good work of producing more.

It is important to be aware of your objectives when having a colonic. Then regular colonics for awhile will be needed such as weekly this is referred to as a “series”. How many depends on the condition of your body and how well it responds to treatments. If your objective is to recover from the flu or a short term problem then maybe one or two may be sufficient. Again this can only be properly assessed once your objective has been identified and discussed with your therapist who will guide you with information but the decision is entirely yours as everyone has restraints with budget and lifestyle.
